Why leave space for later questions?

The Federation of State Medical Boards gathers doctors’ licensing offices from states around the country.

In advice adopted in May 2026, the group recommends a way for patients to raise more questions once the visit is over.

That is a recommendation from the group, not a nationwide law; each state sets its own requirements, as checked September 26, 2026.

Before agreeing to care, ask who handles later questions. Get that person’s name and contact details.

Ask the state office that licenses the person treating you what the law requires where you will be.
